Here are some moments that remind me of how beautiful life can be.
- Sunsets (or sunrises) that fill the sky with creamy layered cotton candy colors, casting a glow that almost pauses time.
- A 2:30am phone call from my 11-year-old cousin in Florida, genuinely concerned about my safety after hearing about a nearby earthquake and tsunami warning. I wish I lived closer to him. I love you, AJ.
- Dancing! Dancing around the house on a Sunday morning while cleaning. Dancing with my family, forgetting our differences. Dancing with my friends, while wearing sunglasses in the club. (Extra special bonus points for old people dancing!)
- Exchanging a silent look with someone that intuitively communicates exactly how we’re feeling or what we’re thinking; no words necessary.
- Finding an old song I haven’t heard in YEARS after forgetting all about it.
- Settings that bring people together in unison for a common purpose; i.e. The Olympics, weddings, end of year holidays (ex. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s), forums/conferences, etc. Any type of celebration!
- Not having to set my alarm for the next morning.
- Seeing someone do their absolute best–(I mean, just leaving their hearts on the floor)–followed by them receiving authentic validation of how great they really are.
- Chipotle.
- Airports. It’s a center of raw emotion. People saying their goodbyes; Others being reunited. And feelings of excitement and adrenaline when getting ready to travel someplace new.
